Computed Tomography (CT) of Abdomen/Pelvis without contrast is a type of diagnostic medical imaging test. It utilizes x-rays and a computer to create detailed images of organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels within the abdomen and pelvis.
This test is commonly used to accurately diagnose a variety of medical conditions, including cancers, kidney or liver diseases, birth defects and injuries to the abdomen and pelvis.
During the procedure, you will be asked to lay flat on the CT table and will be slowly moved through the machine. You may be asked to hold your breath during the scan in order to minimize any motion.
The images taken will be interpreted by a radiologist for doctor. Results of the scan can take several days.
